Abstract

Summary
Amitraz poisoning is a rare disorder characterized by central nervous system and respiratory depression, bradycardia, hypotension, hypothermia, hyperglycemia, vomiting and glycosuria. In this study, 16 pediatric patients with amitraz poisoning were presented. This study revealed that clinical manifestations of poisoning by oral or dermal route emerged within 20-150 minutes and that central nervous system depression, which is the most important sign, resolved with in 6-20 hours. All cases were discharged as recovered after 44 hours. In this present study, we would like to emphasze that amitraz poisoning cases began to appear due to the widening of its usage in Turkey, but with close observation and supportive treatment all cases can recover in a short time
Key words: Amitraz, Poisoning, Childhood
